When The Underground says we’re committed to uniting believers and building tribes, it’s not just a catchy phrase—it’s the heartbeat of our ministry. Recently, we witnessed the power of unity and generosity come alive in a small village in Kasawo, Uganda, where a broken water system had left the community struggling.
The Need for Clean Water
Water is life. Yet, for the people of Kasawo accessing clean water had become a daily challenge. The main water source, a critical pipeline providing the village with clean water, had broken, leaving families, orphanages, and ministry leaders scrambling to find alternative ways to meet their basic needs.
Without the pipeline, the village had to rely on unsafe and distant water sources, putting their health and well-being at risk. The cost to repair the pipeline was $815—an amount that might seem small to some but was insurmountable for the village.
A Tribe United for Change
While visiting Kasawo, we met ministry leaders and community members who shared their need with us. Moved by their resilience and faith, we knew this was a moment where we could unite believers to make a tangible difference.
To help raise the funds, the women and children of the village handcrafted beautiful bracelets. These bracelets became a symbol of hope and resilience, and we brought them back to the United States to sell. Every bracelet told a story of faith and perseverance, and people responded.
Overflowing Generosity
As we shared the story of Kasawo, support began to pour in. One person felt led to write a check for the exact amount needed—$815! But that wasn’t the end of the story. Others continued to give, enabling us not only to repair the pipeline but to send extra funds to bless the village.
With the money raised, the pipeline was repaired, restoring clean water to the community. The additional funds were used to feed children in the orphanages and provide other essential needs for the village.
More Than Water
This story isn’t just about fixing a pipeline; it’s about God’s people uniting to serve one another and advance His Kingdom. Clean water is a physical need, but through this effort, the people of Kasha also experienced the living water of Christ.
John 4:14 reminds us, “But whoever drinks the water I give them will never thirst. Indeed, the water I give them will become in them a spring of water welling up to eternal life.”
In partnership with ministry leaders, we were able to demonstrate Christ’s love in action—meeting both physical and spiritual needs.
The Power of Tribes
This effort in Kasawo is a perfect example of what happens when tribes come together to serve and transform lives. Uniting and building in CHRIST is a lifestyle.
