The Kingdom of God: A Night in Ndejje

There are nights on the mission field when the Word does more than fill a room—it confronts hearts and calls people to respond. In the village of Ndejje, Dante preached from 1 Corinthians 6, where Paul speaks plainly about sin and warns that those who continue in unrighteousness will not inherit the Kingdom of God. It was a direct message about repentance and the reality that following Jesus is not simply adding Him to our lives; it is surrendering our lives to Him. As the Word went forth, people began to respond. During ministry time, there was repentance and open confession, people came forward for prayer, and we witnessed lives being ministered to through deliverance and the filling of the Holy Spirit.

What made the passage especially powerful that night was that Paul's warning does not end with condemnation. After naming what separates us from God's Kingdom, he writes in 1 Corinthians 6:11, “And that is what some of you were. But you were washed, you were sanctified, you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God.” Those words seemed to capture what we were witnessing: “And that is what some of you were.” The Gospel confronts us with truth, but it never leaves us without hope. Jesus does not expose what has held us captive merely to show us what is wrong; He calls us out of it. Repentance becomes a doorway to freedom because there is grace on the other side of confession, and there is a new life available through Christ.

As we prayed with people that night, we were reminded that this is why the whole Gospel must be preached. We witnessed people confess, repent, receive prayer, experience deliverance, and encounter the Holy Spirit. The message and the ministry belonged together: the Word revealed what needed to be surrendered, and people were given an opportunity to respond to God. Ndejje became more than another place where we preached; it became a night we witnessed the truth of Scripture unfolding before us. The Kingdom of God does not merely call people away from an old life—it invites them into a new one. Washed. Sanctified. Justified. Filled. Free. This is the hope we carry when we go.
