The Gospel in Buzikka

The mission field has a way of changing your definition of significance. There are communities that may never be known by much of the world, churches that may never have large platforms, and faithful believers whose names may never travel beyond the places they serve. Yet when we entered Buzikka, we were reminded that heaven does not measure importance by visibility. God knows every road, every home, every family, and every prayer that has risen from that community long before we ever arrived.

Romans 10:15 says, “How beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news!” We often read that verse and think about the person who goes, but the mission field has taught us to think about the people waiting at the end of those footsteps. The beauty is not in being known as the one who went; the beauty is that Jesus considered people worth going to. We were not bringing God into Buzikka as though He had been absent. He was already there. Our privilege was to come alongside what He was doing, proclaim Jesus, pray with His people, and remind them that they are part of a Kingdom far greater than any geographical boundary.

Buzikka left us with a truth we want to carry everywhere we go: there are no insignificant places in the Kingdom of God because there are no insignificant people. Jesus crossed boundaries, entered villages, stopped for individuals, and continually moved toward people others overlooked. Missions gives us the privilege of following those footsteps. Wherever there are people to love, believers to strengthen, and hearts that need to hear the good news of Jesus, there is somewhere worth going.
