Seen by God: Ministry in Jinja

Ministry can easily become about numbers: how many attended, how many were reached, how many communities were visited. But Scripture continually brings us back to individuals. Jesus could stand before crowds and still notice one person. He heard Bartimaeus crying out when others told him to be quiet. He stopped for the woman who touched His garment even while surrounded by people. Again and again, Jesus demonstrated that the Kingdom may reach multitudes, but it never loses sight of the one.

That truth became especially meaningful during our time in Jinja. In Genesis 16:13, Hagar—alone, vulnerable, and uncertain of her future—encountered God and declared, “You are the God who sees me.” What a revelation for anyone who has ever felt invisible. God does not merely see communities; He sees people. He sees the widow sitting quietly among many others. He sees the child whose story has not been told. He sees the pastor carrying burdens privately. He sees every life behind the numbers we so easily use to describe impact.

Jinja reminded us that one of the greatest gifts we can bring into a community is the willingness to see people as Jesus sees them. Before we can build for people, we must learn to see them. Before we can speak into someone's life, we should be willing to hear their story. And sometimes the first evidence of God's love a person experiences through us is simply the realization that someone stopped long enough to notice them. God sees you is not a small message. For someone who has felt forgotten, it can change everything.
