Among the Underground Church

In 2024, The Underground had the privilege of serving alongside believers gathering faithfully in the underground Church in Asia.

We traveled from house to house, gathering with believers in intimate spaces for worship, fellowship, prayer, and the teaching of God's Word. We preached the Gospel, provided Bibles, and spent hours teaching and encouraging brothers and sisters who were deeply hungry to know God and grow in His Word. What impacted us most was the believers themselves.

Their love was overwhelming. They welcomed us not as strangers, but as family. There was a depth of fellowship, generosity, and genuine affection that reminded us of the picture of the early Church in Scripture—believers gathering together, sharing what they had, learning the Word, praying, and strengthening one another in faith.

And they were hungry.

Teaching that was intended to last a short time often continued for hours because they wanted more of the Word. They listened, asked questions, prayed, and remained together in fellowship. There was no need for production or elaborate settings. In homes and small gathering places, the Church was alive.

We went believing we were there to encourage them, but we left deeply encouraged ourselves.

This mission reminded us that the Church of Jesus Christ is much bigger than buildings, borders, or what can be seen publicly. Around the world, there are believers faithfully following Jesus, loving one another, sharing the Gospel, and gathering around His Word.

It was an honor to stand with them, learn from them, and remind them that they are not forgotten and they are not alone.
